I decided to breast-feed rachel once she is born. It is a medical fact that breast feeding a child makes them stronger and it also fosters a closer mother and baby bond. My gynae had suggested that I do it for at least 2 years to regain my pre-pregnant figure. "It's the best gift you can give your baby once she is born: Food, Comfort, Security and a Stronger Immune System"
Rachel is now almost 2 years and 5 months. I am no where near 48kg (and my gynae had migrated)..SIGH..Thank God i can wear most of my previous sized clothes, Size M but i still look like a Bachang (Rice Dumpling)..i am too Busty and i prefer flatter chest (Weirdo right??)
I do exercise in gym weekly but i had stopped running as my knee hurts when i jog on the treadmill or along the beach. Even the 100 crunches a day does not firm the tum tum area as much as i had hoped. I want a totally FLAT tummy like a LCD TV.
But i am breast- feeding and i am also not the type to pop pills..Remember Andrea De Cruz Saga. The most i will do is pilates and anti cellulite cream every where with crunches and ball exercises.
Ballet Lessons????
Recently i wanted to sign up Adult Ballet at Singapore Dance Theatre but was dismayed when they do not offer afternoon classes. Their classes cater to working adults and it is impossible for me to attend once rachel is with me after child care hours. Any way, suddenly this idea is down the drain as i have to look after her 24/7. Not wanting to give up another of my child hood dream i bought a good ballet exercise book and started doing the pilates warm up and floor barre each time i had chance to do so: when baby is sleeping.
The result is Wonderful: My muscles are firmer already. Hopefully next year i can place her with a baby sitter at night and excel in the ballet night classes. hahaha
Being a Nurse
i become a nurse each time my baby falls sick. I've become an "expert" in using syringes, Nebruliser and also inhaler puffs. So far I've administered anti-vomit, anti diarrhea medication along with the usual panadol, anti biotic, vitamin syrups etc. I also did suppositorites up her tiny anus (Ouch) to control super hi fever or vomitting (wearing gloves of course!!!)
The first time my baby was sick she was exactly one month old. We had to post phone her full month party. She caught flu from the daddy. And I had to wake every hour to take her temperature which soared to 39.8. We rushed her to A&E Raffles Hospital, later we rushed a few times when she is older whenever she was sick or threw up and diarrhea non stop in middle of the night. Its no joke administering medication as rachel has a way of spitting out the things that will make her well. Finally after 2 years, she accept her medication with lots of tears and physical struggles.
Hospitalisation Woes
When she was hospitalised for bronchities, a few nurses had to hold her down while we nebrulise her, a medical procedure where the airways are relaxed using the vaporisation of some medication. like ventolin. She was only 9 months old and we even had to nebrulise her at home for many days 4 hourly.
Her most recent hospital stay, she was close to de hydration from rota virus vomitting and diarrhea. Each time she was hospitalised, we accompanied her through out the stay. And slept on the sofa bed..the CREAKY sofa bed. I never leave the room unless someone is watching her.Daddy will continue his lessons otherwise no family income. Each time it cost about $2K. If you add up all her medical expenses to date, one can have 2 more normal births.. so we decided ONE is more than enough..I cannot imagine No 1 sick, then No 2 also kenna then No 3 teething woes ...GOSH. (Can go Siao)
Once we have the budget i will make sure she is the ONLY child.
I also need see a doctor to STOP breastfeeding. To me its so much easier to start then stop. Sigh!
